Nearly 25,000 Experiencing Electricity in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Weather Systems
Around twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, generating strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Destruction
Residents witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that different parts across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Response teams were working to restore energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units deployed to address the extensive power failures.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, around one thousand households in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services received 598 requests for assistance across the area, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- Wyndham - 179 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, more than 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were without power.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
