Ten individuals convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of circulating untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the pair's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A persistent false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The couple married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
